A BRIEF HISTORY OF 2011 - PLOTS, CHARACTERS, AND ADVENTURE!

Kastagire seems rather jolly given the circumstances...

Kastagire Assassination!

Despite rumors to the contrary, it seems as if Master Kastagire of House Jade has met his end...
Tidings and Rumors, Week One
Report by Emily Randall

Is Thrakaf Dead?
According to many adventurers, the dreaded Nightwalker has been destroyed.  A lord of Shadonia, Thrakaf is not an easy opponent.  Contradiction, a Quester who took part in the fight, said that that the Dark Man absorbed Thrakaf’s essence.  Supposedly, the Dark Man is a new enigma, who has a skull for a face and eats dreams, according to Dororo the Assassin.  But at the most recent Bazaar, an assassin who had just attacked Master Kastagirewas seen transforming into Thrakaf before teleporting away.  Eyewitnesses claim that he cried “Shadonia will rise again!” as he disappeared.  Is the Nightwalker truly gone for good?  If you have information on the matter, please contact us!

Master Kastagire Attacked
Master Kastagire, the Emperor of the Empire of the Seven Stars, was attacked several times at the most recent Bazaar.  The first assassin was a silent lady, clothed all in brown, who could not speak the tongue of any who were present.  Unnamed sources believe her to have been controlled by something else, possibly the Dark Man.  The next plot was to frame Dororo the Assassin, a Light Ninja, according to witnesses, but that attempt failed.
Unfortunately, the final attempt succeeded.  A harmless pet merchant somehow got close enough to the Emperor to stab him.  Although Master Kastagire deflected the knife, its edge brushed his skin as he did so.  Almost immediately, he fell into a stupor, unable to be awakened. Many fear that the blade was touched by Shadow, and its touch has corrupted Master Kastagire.  Currently, he is incapacitated, and Lin Chu Hao has taken the Regency.

A New Empress?
Lin Chu Hao now sits on the throne of the Empire of the Seven Stars.  Although adventurers claim that she collaborated with Thrakaf the Nightwalker to assassinate Master Kastigire, nothing has been proven.  Sources who prefer to remain unnamed, worried that she will attack them, say that she is the most Shadowy woman in the Empire.  But, as of when this paper went to print, she had not made any substantial changes to the Empire’s policy.  Will this continue?  Regardless, many are worried that Lin Chu Hao will prove a dangerous regent, and an even more dangerous empress.

Tidings and Rumors, Week Two
Report by Emily Randall
Week of Nightmares
For the past week, what appear to be animated nightmares have plagued the continent, randomly appearing and terrorizing the populace.  No one seems to know how they were created, or why they suddenly began materializing, and then abruptly vanished.  Duke Louisus of Grand Cattonia told reporters that a group of adventurers may be indirectly responsible.  “They said something about a Dream Essential named Neepo, or something like that.  Apparently he got the impression that Lin Chu Hao was going to kill him, so he sent out nightmares-turned-real to hunt her down.”  The Duke refused to provide more information.

Tome of the Loremaster Returned
Lady Artemis, daughter of Duke Louisus, has been found, and the legendary Tome of the Loremaster has been returned.  Some say that this tome has access to all the information ever written down, and simply by opening its pages it is possible to learn any secret.  Daykar, the alchemist who kidnapped Artemis and the tome, has been captured.  His whereabouts are unknown, as Duke Louisus refuses to release the information.  One source says that Lin Chu Hao wanted the tome, but others disagree.  Regardless, it is now safe, thanks to many brave adventurers who fought the pirates Daykar had hired to complete his nefarious plot.
Pihuenyi’s Second-in-Command Killed
Another Lord of Shadonia appears to be weakening, adventurers report.  Pihuenyi’s right-hand vampire, who calls herself Lady Asteyra Nightblood, was destroyed recently by a band of Questers who found her in one of the strongholds of the so-called First Vampire.  Nothing more has been heard from those brave adventurers, but sources who are close to them say that they may be chasing Pihuenyi himself.  Will another Lord fall?  We will publish any information as soon as possible.

Secret of the Black Rose Revealed
The Guild of the Black Rose has for many years been seen as the best undead-hunting organization in Thael.  But a Guild spokesman says that this was not actually the guild’s true purpose.  Berto, a powerful leader of the organization, says, “We were created originally to protect the Light-filled undead, and destroy only the Shadowy ones.  We never lost that purpose, we simply concealed it.”  He went on to admit that most of the high command of the Guild of the Black Rose are actually undead themselves, who have lived among us for centuries.  One, who prefers to remain unnamed, explains, “We’re sorry that we had to conceal our true natures, but we wanted to fight for the Light.  If we had revealed ourselves, we would have been slain before we could make a difference in the world.”

Pirate Fleet Attacks
--Grand Cattonia
Two days ago, a gigantic pirate fleet was spotted sailing along the coast of Cattonia, opposed only by a small group of Cattonian naval vessels.  While they flew the Jolly Roger, some believe that the ships were actually from the Empire of the Seven Stars, sent by Lin Chu Hao for an unknown purpose.  The Loremaster was mentioned in connection to this, but the exact reason why is unclear.  As this paper goes to print, battle is being engaged.  Grunt, the commander of the Dragon Society’s military, has called in assistance, and Duke Louisus of Grand Cattonia is confident of victory, but the outcome still remains unknown.

Tidings and Rumors, Week Three
Report by Emily Randall

Pihuenyi is Dead!
Another Lord has fallen! The Guild of the Black Rose announced yesterday that the so-called “First Vampire,” the “Father of the Nameless Drinkers of Life,” was slain by a band of adventurers.  His death, only days after the death of his top lieutenant, comes as a shock to many people.  Eliana Fiahmor, a part-blood vampire, says “This was completely unexpected.  They shouldn’t have been able to take him down!  If Shadonia’s power is weakening…”  She refused to comment further.  Purge and Vex have also taken an interest in Pihuenyi’s destruction.  Purge, the Arcanister of the Healing branch of the College of All Magic, says that she will pay for information regarding the methods used to kill the powerful vampire lord.

The Doeskin Recovered
The Doeskin, a powerful magic artifact made by the Titan Aarwan, was reclaimed last week after a band of thieves stole it from the king of the dwarven Dragonspine Citadel.  Courageous Questers tracked the thieves to their lair, and, after many hardships, were able to return the Doeskin to its owners.  It was then auctioned off at the Bazaar, eventually ending up in the possession of Splogen of ATLAS.  He, and representatives from the Isitus Society and the Dragon Society, are hopeful that it holds the key to healing Master Kastagire.

Blood Mages Defeated
A group of blood mages hiding in the northern mountains was found and defeated last week by the new group called EPICS.  They formed in response to the Shadow that threatens our land.  The blood mages had stolen the Necro-orb held by the Clans and were using it to wreak havoc, controlling innocents through their blood.  Only a few brave adventurers, with the help of a band of ATLAS troops, were able to stop this menace.  One, a summer elf named Elrond, sacrificed his life to destroy one of the blood mages.  Others, too, gave their lives to fulfill their Quest.  Rumors say that these blood mages are just the forefront of a force soon to be flooding our land.  The Blood Dragon was mentioned, but no one seems to know what it is.  If you have information, please contact us!

Two-Front War?
Eyewitnesses in the Risen Lands report seeing Empress Meng of Shadonia and current leader of the Mercenaries of Krov, whispering with Empress-Regent Lin Chu Hao of the Empire of the Seven Stars.  Is Lin Chu Hao allied with Shadonia?  This has been rumored in the past, but never proven.  This time, though, the rumors are being taken more seriously. Admiral Porter of the Royal Dawn Navy announced, “During this time of war with Shadonia, we must protect all borders, not just the borders close to Shadonia. The Empire has been an ally, but they did invade in the past. If they ally with Shadonia now then we'll be fighting a war on two fronts.”  The Kingdom of Dawn says that it will be ready for any and all threats, regardless of their origins.

Purge Enacts the Noble Edict
Purge, the Arcanisterof the Healing branch of the College of All Magic, enacted the Noble Edict in response to an undead assault during the Bazaar several days ago.  It reads, “In this day and age, Shadowy undead are becoming an ever-increasing problem.  With this edict, we propose a solution to this problem. All Light-filled undead should be registered as such, and bear a mark as proof of their Light.  All undead without this mark of honor are deemed enemies of the Light, and will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.”  Purge and Vex, her right-hand helper, ask all Light-filled people to join them in their quest to prevent any more atrocities committed by the Shadowy undead.  Help Vex, Witchhunter, and many more fight these dark monstrosities!
